Hungarian driving star Gyorgy Makai (pronounced "YUR-eee MUH-ki") is scheduled to make his North American racing debut in the SK Hand Tool 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series event at the Chicagoland Speedway Saturday, September 10. Makai will drive a Ford Taurus prepared by Green Light Racing. "This is an exciting time," Makai said. "It's a dream come true to get to race in a stock car in America. I want to thank Viasat 3, Sony Play Station 2 and Red Bull for making it possible. I also want to thank Mark Hope, who's helped guide me through this from home." Makai, 20, and a resident of Hodmezovasarhely, Hungary, is the current point leader in the Renault Clio Cup Series in his native land. He finished second in the series in 2004. Competition in the SK Hand Tool 200 comes at the end of a summer filled with testing in Green Light Racing vehicles, both NASCAR Craftsman Trucks and ARCA RE/MAX cars. "Bobby Dotter and all the Green Light team members have been super," Makai said. "They've become good friends this summer as we've tested. I want to reward them with a good race in Chicago." Makai's most recent test was an August 30 session at the Chicagoland Speedway. He posted the 10th-fastest time among 17 drivers participating in the session. Practice and qualifying for the SK Hand Tool 200 are Friday, September 9. The SK Hand Tool 200 is slated for 1 p.m. CDT Saturday, September 10. The race will be telecast live on SpeedChannel.

With a seansational performance he finished 10th on the season’s last race. It was a very tricky race. On lap 233 Goff and the #71 of Gyuri Makai collided on the front stretch coming to stop outside of turn one. The two came to a rest with Goff ‘s racecar on top of the hood of Makai, in an unintended “double-decker” effect and causing caution number 12 to fly. The red flag was brought out and the firebirgade could have helped him out of the car, But after a quick medical check out he got back in the wrecked car and finshed the race. The team chif Dan DiPaolo was very pleasd with Gyuri’s performance.
